Purpose...
  
To assist an individual who is experiencing financial hardship in pursuing his or her goal to enter or advance in the field of aviation. 

Criteria...
  
Candidates preferably are residents of the Northshore School District or actively engaged in a work or professional aviation experience in the immediate area. Must be accepted for enrollment in training programs or college courses that lead to positions in air traffic control, aviation maintenance or engineering or necessary to qualify for a pilot or flight instruction license. Persons attending a bona fide pilot training program at Big Bend Community College will be given consideration.

Candidates should submit the special application form prepared by the Foundation. Personal interviews by the family and/or selection committee may be held.

The memorial...
  
At age 16 and before graduating from Inglemoor High School, Darren Lindal obtained his single-engine, fixed-wing pilot's license from a flight school at Paine Field. At age 19, while alone in a seaplane, he died as a result of a mid-air collision with another float plane in 1986. The accident occurred over Lake Washington. Three perished in the second plane.

  The scholarship endowment was established by his family.

Jeremy Schultz

Jeremy is a flight instructor at Kenmore Air Harbor and Regal Air and the scholarship will be used to increase his instrument skills necessary to qualify for a commercial airline position.


2006 Recipient
Mairead Magorrian

Plans to use the scholarship at Aviation Training Center to become 
a certified aircraft dispatcher.


2005 Recipient
Melissa Olson

Employed as a dispatcher at Kenmore Air, Melissa is enrolled in the air traffic controllers program at Green River Community College


2004 Recipient

Joseph A. Leatherman
Employed as a lineman at Kenmore Air Harbor and will use the scholarship to help pay for a program to obtain his flight instructor's license.
