Purpose & Criteria.......
  
To encourage and assist a woman student of pharmacology enrolled in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Washington to pursue an active career in community-based pharmacy. Applicants must be students in good standing in the School of Pharmacy

Applicants will be interviewed and evaluated by the Scholarship Committee of the School of Pharmacy

The memorial...

  
This scholarship was established in memory of Lillian Ramsey whose son Richard Eugene Ramsey was a graduate of the School of Pharmacy and has recently retired as a full-time registered pharmacist in Kenmore. He was owner-operator of Ostrom's Drugs in Kenmore and active in community affairs, including serving several terms on the Northshore School Board.

Marcie entered her third year in the School of Pharmacy at the university for academic '05-'06 and is interested in entering geriatric or clinical pharmacy work upon graduation in 2007.

   She is a native of Grand Junction, Colorado, and earned a bachelor of science degree from Whitworth College in Spokane before being admitted to the UW Pharmacy School.

Katy Hale

     Katy Hale completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Washington State University prior to entering the University of Washington School of Pharmacy. After receiving her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in June 2004, she will be entering the Valley View Clinical Pharmacy Residency Program in Monroe.
     Katy served as a student organization officer, a member of the Student Advisory Committee on Professionalism and was also event planner for our new student orientation and the Border to Border Relay for the American Cancer Society.
     Katy currently lives in Monroe with her two dogs.  Her husband, Steve is a member of the National Guard and is currently in Iraq. Katy would like to specialize in compounding and veterinary pharmacy in a community pharmacy setting.  She is also interested in becoming a pharmacy faculty member in the future.

Academic Year 2002-03  Recipient

Victoria L. Osborne

   The 2002 winner completed her pre-pharmacy requirements at Olympic College in Bremerton and is a 2003 graduate of the University of Washington School of Pharmacy. Prior to entering the pharmacy program, Victoria was a pharmacy technician for the U.S. Navy, a rape crisis intervention volunteer and a HIV-AIDS awareness instructor.  As a working parent of two children (ages 8 and 10), Victoria not only completed her degree requirements but also developed and presented lectures to first and third year Pharm.D. students on suicide awareness and prevention. Victoria was voted by the faculty to receive the Roche Pharmacy Communication Award, in recognition of her exemplary communication skills and empathy. She has accepted a position with the Naval Hospital in Bremerton.
