Endowment Established - 2006

Purpose...

This scholarship is given in recognition of the many civic contributions of Marv Workman, charter member and past president of Woodinville Rotary Club and a founding trustee and treasurer of the Northshore Scholarship Foundation.  The scholarship is offered through the support of the Woodinville Rotary Club and is designed to assist an incoming freshman at the University of Washington Bothell. The scholarship is renewable for three additional years and has a value of $2,000 per academic year to be applied toward tuition and fees.

Criteria...
Candidates should be a graduate of a high school in the Northshore School District and intend to major in business. Applicants may either be enrolled at University of Washington Bothell as an incoming freshman or have been accepted for enrollment.

To be eligible for renewal, recipients will be expected to make adequate progress toward graduation as is deemed acceptable by the business faculty of UW Bothell with recipients maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.0. To receive a second renewal for the recipient’s third year of study, the recipient must have been accepted into the upper division business program.

Applicants should use the standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation form and should provide evidence that the candidate has performed service to community and school, and has maintained a GPA consistent with the admission requirements. Financial need will be a factor.

Selection...

The scholarship committee of the Woodinville Rotary Club will interview candidates and make the selection. In the event no candidate has qualified by choosing UW Bothell as his or her school of choice, the club has the option of awarding no scholarship in that particular year.

Coordinated by
Woodinville Rotary Club

2010 Renewal Value...    $2,000

The scholarship is subject to renewal
for 2010-11. A new, four-year scholarship will be awarded
in 2011 for academic year 2011-12.

The recognition...

The scholarship is given in recognition of Woodinville Rotarian Marv Workman and was announced January 31, 2006 at the club's 19th anniversary Charter Night Celebration.
Marv Workman was a founding trustee of the Northshore Scholarship Foundation and was a charter member of the Woodinville Rotary Club established in 1987. He was the club's first full-term president serving from July 1, 1987 through June 30, 1988.
Now retired, he maintained an accounting practice over the years in Woodinville, Redmond and Totem Lake. The Workmans raised four children, all of whom are graduates of Woodinville High School.
