For Academic Year 2010-2011
Les & Vista Anderson Memorial Vocational
Tuition Assistance Grants.
Several grants of $1,500 will be awarded and will be eligible for a
renewal for a second year of study if good progress is demonstrated in the
first year of the grant.
Applicants must show a serious intent to study in a one- or two-year
program at a community college or vocational/technical school.
The scholarship may also be used to support an apprenticeship.
(The grants are not to be used for community college if the
educational goal is to transfer to a four-year college.)
Financial need will be a consideration.
The scholarships are sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Northshore.
Applicants may
be current seniors or former students whose class has already graduated.
Use the standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application
form. No letters of recommendation are required.
Winners will be notified by May 1.
For graduating seniors and qualifying former students, applications
are due February 5, 2010 at a Northshore School District High School
Counseling Office; for renewals, submitted to the Foundation by March 31,

Scholarship
–
One new scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded to a Northshore School
District graduating senior who intends to follow a course of study leading
to at least a four-year degree. The scholarship may be used at a two- or
four-year college providing that the goal is at least a four-year degree.
Candidates should display interest in the fields of social work,
education, social sciences or physical sciences. A GPA of 3.0 is required
and financial need will be a primary consideration. Service to school and
community will also be considerations. Finalists will be interviewed and
will be notified of the time and place of interviews. The winner will be
notified by May 1.
Applications are due
February 5, 2010 at a Northshore School District High School Counseling
Office.
Karen Ann
Olson Forys, PhD Scholarship
-
The
scholarship amount will be $2,000. The scholarship will be awarded each
academic year to one graduating senior from among Bothell, Inglemoor,
Woodinville or the Secondary Academy for Success high school. The
candidate must be accepted into an accredited college or university. The
candidate must be pursuing a degree in either education or the performing
arts. The candidate must demonstrate that he/she is a good citizen, has
obtained a high school grade point average of at least 3.0 and provided
service to school and/ or community. Financial need will be a primary
consideration with a demonstrated willingness on the part of the candidate
to earn a portion of the remaining school expenses that will be incurred
obtaining their degree. Applicants should use the standard scholarship
application form posted on the Foundation website.
Finalists will be interviewed by the scholarship committee of the
Woodinville Rotary Club and will be notified of the time and place of
interviews. The winner will be notified no later than May 1.
Applications are due
February 5, 2010 at a Northshore School District High School Counseling
Office.
Richard A. Hart Memorial Scholarship.
One
scholarship of $500 will be awarded.
Candidates must attend Bothell United Methodist Church.
The
scholarship is not limited to applicants who live within the Northshore
School District. Contact Bothell United Methodist Church for application
information and any additional criteria.
Steven Haynes Memorial Fine Arts
Scholarship.
One
scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded.
Candidates will have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and test scores which indicate
ability to complete college level studies.
Evidence
of distinguished performance in the Fine Arts, Performing Arts, or Visual
Arts will be criteria.
Portfolios are encouraged but not required.
Use
standard Northshore School District Scholarship application.
No
letters of recommendation are to be attached. The winner will be notified
by May 1.
Applications are due February 5, 2010 at a Northshore School District High
School Counseling Office.
Nick Jewett Memorial Baseball/Softball
Scholarship.
One
scholarship of $1,700 will be awarded.
Candidates will have the potential to continue participation in
baseball/softball at the college level.
Use
standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application. No letters of
recommendation are to be attached. The winner will be notified by May 1.
Applications are due February 5, 2010 at a Northshore School District High
School Counseling Office. Julian and Kay
Karp “Emerging Scholar” Award
–
One scholarship of $2,500 will be awarded. It may be used at either a two-
or four-year college. The
scholarship will be awarded to a student who has overcome significant
obstacles in life and who, without encouragement or financial support,
could find future education out of reach.
Other criteria may include selfless contributions to those in need
and impeccable citizenship.
The nominee will probably, but not necessarily, be a “C” student. Students
do not submit applications for this scholarship.
The recipient will be selected from letters of endorsement or
recommendation submitted by Northshore staff members.
To nominate a student for this award, staff members should address
a letter to the Julian Karp Scholarship Committee with information about
the nominated student.
Finalists for the award may be interviewed.
The winner will be notified by May 1.
Letters of recommendation and endorsement are due February 5, 2010
at a Northshore School District high school Counseling Office.
Pop Keeney Memorial Football Scholarship.
One
scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded to a Northshore School District
senior who excels at football and wants to play the sport at the
collegiate level.
The
applicants must demonstrate skill, teamwork, leadership, humility, love of
sports and academic ability to succeed in college. The applicants must
play football from the “heart”.
Use the
standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application. No letters of
recommendation are to be attached.
The
winner will be notified by May 1.
Applications are due February 5, 2010 at a Northshore School District High
School Counseling Office.
Carl Knoll/Dean Worthington Memorial Business Scholarship.
The scholarship amount will be $1,500. The scholarship is sponsored by
Northshore Rotary Club.
Applicants must demonstrate interest
in pursuing a career in accounting, finance, marketing or business
management or a related business field.
Financial need and service to the school will be considered as well as
academic potential.
Use the
standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application.
No
letters of recommendation are required.
Finalists will
be interviewed by the Northshore Rotary Club Scholarship Committee and
should be prepared to discuss business interests.
Applicants will
be notified of time and place of interviews. Winners will be notified by
May 1.
Applications

Counseling Office. Robert C. Knowles
Memorial Scholarship.
A scholarship of $1,600 will be awarded.
Criteria will include financial need.
Applicants must have a sincere desire to continue education beyond high
school.
High school GPA will not be a primary consideration.
Finalists will be interviewed by Northshore Rotary Club and should be
prepared to discuss financial need as well as provide information about
the proposed course of college study.
Use the standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application form.
No letters of recommendation are to be attached.
The
winner will be notified by May 1.
Applications are due February 5, 2009 at a Northshore School
District High School Counseling Office.
Janet and Gordon
Livengood Memorial Scholarships
–One
new scholarship of $2,000 will be awarded which may be renewable for an
additional three academic years. Financial need will be a primary
consideration. The
scholarship may be used at either a community college or a four-year
college. Other criteria to be
considered are school/community activities, student leadership, work
experience and grade point average.
Use the standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application
form. No letters of
recommendation are to be attached.
Finalists will be interviewed.
Recipients of scholarships in 2007, 2008 and 2009 are eligible to
have their awards renewed. The winners will be notified by May 1.
Applications are due February 5, 2010 at a Northshore School District High
School Counseling Office.
Applications for renewal are due
March 31, 2010 to the Foundation. Dr. Frank Love
Memorial Scholarship
– The
scholarship amount is $1,500. Recipients are selected on the basis of
current involvement in school and community service.
Grade
point average or academic standing will not be primary considerations.
The
intent is to emphasize that education is not an end in itself, but instead
is a means by which people become contributing members of society.
The
scholarship may be used at a two-year or a four-year college.
Use the
standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application form.
Candidates must select "community service" subject as one of
four opportunities to express themselves.
A letter of
recommendation may be attached. Finalists may be interviewed.
The
winner will be notified by May 1.
Applications are due February 5, 2010 at a Northshore School District High
School Counseling Office.
Malinowski-Marston Communications Scholarship.
The
scholarship amount will be $1,500.
Candidates will have an interest in pursuing a career in print
communications (excludes broadcasting, advertising, and public relations
careers).
Financial need, academic potential and seriousness of purpose are
considerations.
Use the
standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application.
No
letters of recommendation are to be attached.
Candidates will be interviewed by the Communications Scholarship Committee
of Woodinville Rotary Club and should be prepared to take work samples to
the interview.
Applicants will be notified of time and place of interview.
The
winner will be notified by May 1.
Applications are due February 5, 2010 at a Northshore School District High
School Counseling Office or the Foundation. Bob and Ruth
Munro Memorial Scholarship.
One
scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded.
Applicants must have a minimum 2.8 GPA and be able to demonstrate
financial need.
Other
considerations will include good citizenship, good attendance and service
to the school or community.
Special
consideration may be given to students with an interest in the aviation
trades, either flight or maintenance.
In addition to
current seniors, employees of Kenmore Air Harbor may also apply.
Plans to
attend college in the state of Washington are preferred.
The
scholarship may be used at either a 2-year or 4-year college.
Finalists will be interviewed and will be notified of the date and time
for interviews.
Use
standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application.
No
letters of recommendation are to be Northshore Auto
Technology Scholarship
– The
scholarship amount will be $1,000. It will be awarded to an outstanding
member of the Northshore Auto Technology program.
Applicants need not submit applications, as the scholarship will be
selected from the members of the Auto Tech program.
The
winner will be notified by May 1.
Betty Stoutenburg Memorial Art
Scholarship.
One
scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded.
Candidates will be seniors who demonstrate achievement, talent, and an
interest in pursuing a career in art.
Selection will be based on artistic achievement and financial need.
Use
standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application and submit a
portfolio of no more than 10 slides or works that depict the student’s
abilities.
Attach
at least one letter of recommendation from a visual arts instructor and a
personal statement from the student of his/her intentions to study in the
visual arts field.
The
winner will be notified by May 1.
Applications are due February 5, 2010 at a Northshore School District High
School Counseling Office. John Stoutenburg
Healthcare Services Scholarship.
One
scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded.
Candidates must be interested in entering the field of health care
services, emphasizing a lifestyle of well being, fitness and treatments of
a preventative nature. Fields of study should include, but not be limited
to chiropractics, nutrition, physical therapy, acupuncture, or
naturopathy.
Financial need will be a consideration, in addition to academic
achievement.
Use the
standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application.
Letters
of recommendation from persons in the candidate’s intended field of study
will be considered.
Finalists will be interviewed and will be notified of the time and place
for the interviews.
Applications are due February 5, 2010 at a Northshore School District High
School Counseling Office. The winner will be notified by May 1. Woodinville
Rotary Club UW Bothell Scholarship
–
The scholarship amount is $2,500 and is available to a graduating senior
of any Northshore School District secondary school program. The recipient
will enroll as an entering freshman at the University of Washington
Bothell for academic year 2010-11 and shall have achieved a GPA of no less
than 3.25. The scholarship is renewable for an additional three full
academic terms at UW Bothell, based on the recipient’s successful progress
toward a degree and who maintains a GPA of 3.25 or greater. Candidates, in
addition to having achieved a strong academic record, shall have been
active in service to school and community. Financial need will be given
strong consideration, as will graduates of Woodinville High School.
Finalists will be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee of the
Woodinville Rotary Club and will be notified of the time and place of
interviews. Use standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application
form available on the Foundation website. Winners will be notified by May
1. Applications are due February 5, 2010 at the career center of the
applicant’s secondary school or mailed to Northshore Scholarship
Foundation, P.O. Box 173, Bothell, WA 98041.
Rusty Young Community Leadership Award.
One scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded to a Northshore School District
graduating senior who has displayed a strong record of service to
community as well as leadership at school and has a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
The scholarship is sponsored by Northshore Rotary Club and applicants will
be interviewed by the Northshore Rotary Club. Selection will be based on
academic potential and financial need. Use the standard Northshore
Scholarship Foundation application.
Applications are due February 5, 2010 at a Northshore School District High
School Counseling Office
Applicants will be notified of time and place of interviews. Winners will
be notified by May 1.
