      PLEASE NOTE:  Scholarships are offered through the Northshore Scholarship Foundation, a local nonprofit organization.  The application form for these scholarships is called
“The Northshore Scholarship Foundation Application” and is available only Online at 

Application

     Applicants for these scholarships must be attending Woodinville High School.

     It is acceptable to duplicate the application if applying for more than one foundation scholarship that asks for the same application information.  Transcripts need not be official or sealed.

EACH SCHOLARSHIP BEFORE COMPLETING AN APPLICATION.


Grants available to
Woodinville High School applicants only

Marv Cook Memorial Scholarship (WHS ONLY)  The scholarship amount is $2,000.  The recipient will be a graduating senior from Woodinville High School who is currently enrolled in AP Calculus at Woodinville High School or has already completed AP Calculus at Woodinville High School.  Use standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application form.  No letters of recommendation are to be attached.  Winners will be notified by May 1.  Applications are due on February 5, 2010 at the Woodinville High School Counseling Office.

Shawn Gardner Memorial Scholarship (BHS and WHS Only) The scholarship amount will be $1,500. Candidates will be current high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in counseling or some related “helping profession.” On the scholarship application, students should include information about why they have decided to pursue a career in their chosen profession. Financial need will be a consideration. Finalists may be interviewed. Use the standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application form. No letters of recommendation are to be attached. Applications are due February 5, 2010 at either the Woodinville or Bothell high school counseling office. The winner will be notified by May 1.

Peg Phillips Memorial Theater Arts Scholarship (WHS ONLY)  The scholarship amount is $2,000.  It will be awarded to a student who has been active in the drama program at Woodinville High School and who has volunteered or interned with the Woodinville Repertory Theater.  The scholarship must be used at a two- or four-year accredited theater arts college, conservatory or university.  An application entitled “The Peg Phillips Memorial Theatre Arts Scholarship Application” is available in the Career Center at Woodinville High School.  Applications are due February 5, 2010 at the Counseling Center at Woodinville High School.  The winner will be notified by May 1.  

Doug Pride Memorial Scholarship (WHS Only)  - The scholarship amount will be $2,000. As many as four scholarships are available – one new and three as renewals. The first-time scholarship recipient is eligible for renewal for up to an additional three years. Conditions for renewal will include maintenance of a 3.0 GPA in college and declaration of a major within a time frame that will permit university graduation within four or five years of study. Candidates will attend Washington State University, Seattle University, or Eastern, Central or Western Washington University. Candidates will be interested in pursuing majors in architecture, business administration, engineering, veterinary medicine, science or teaching. The GPA must be at least 3.0 and candidates must be U.S. citizens. Use the standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application form. No letters of recommendation are to be attached. Finalists will be interviewed by the scholarship committee of the Woodinville Rotary Club. Applications are due Feb. 5, 2010 at the Counseling office at Woodinville High School. Winners will be notified by May 1. Applications for renewal are due March 31, 2010, submitted to the Foundation. It is the responsibility of the recipient to apply for renewal.

Woodinville Rotary Club Scholarship (WHS Only) The scholarship amount will be $2,500 and will be awarded to an outstanding graduate of Woodinville High School, based on the student’s service to school and community, for academic performance and potential, and for financial need. The candidate should have attained a GPA of 3.25 or greater and plans to attend either a public or private four-year college or university within the state of Washington. Finalists will be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee of Woodinville Rotary Club and will be notified of the time and place of interviews. Use standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application form available on the Foundation’s website. Winners will be notified by May 1. Applications are due February 5, 2010 at the Woodinville High School Career Center.


Woodinville Rotary Make a Difference Scholarships
(WHS and SAS ONLY).
 
The scholarship amount will be $7,500 if attending a four-year school, or $3,500 if attending a two-year program. Several scholarships are available. The scholarship is sponsored by Woodinville Rotary Club. Criteria will include academic achievement, service to others, and evidence of acceptance to a qualifying college. Selection will be based on the applicant’s demonstrating that he or she would not be able to attend college without a scholarship that covers a substantial portion of tuition, books and fees.  The recipient will attend a Washington state-operated, two- or four-year institution of higher learning. Use standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application form.  No letters of recommendation are to be attached.  Finalist interviews will be conducted.  Finalists will be notified of the time and place of interviews.   Winners will be notified by May 1.  Applications are due February 5, 2010 at the Woodinville High School or SAS counseling offices.

Woodinville Rotary Leadership/Service Scholarship (WHS ONLY)  The scholarship amount is $2,500. The scholarship is sponsored by Woodinville Rotary Club. Criteria will recognize the graduates contribution to school/community service and leadership.  Financial need will be a consideration. Use standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application form. No letters of recommendation are to be attached.  The winner will be selected by the scholarship committee at Woodinville High School. The winner will be notified by May 1.  Applications are due February 5, 2010 at the Woodinville High School Counseling Office.

Woodinville Rotary Club UW Bothell Scholarship The scholarship amount is $2,500 and is available to a graduating senior of any Northshore School District secondary school program. The recipient will enroll as an entering freshman at the University of Washington Bothell for academic year 2010-11 and shall have achieved a GPA of no less than 3.25. The scholarship is renewable for an additional three full academic terms at UW Bothell, based on the recipient’s successful progress toward a degree and who maintains a GPA of 3.25 or greater. Candidates, in addition to having achieved a strong academic record, shall have been active in service to school and community. Financial need will be given strong consideration, as will graduates of Woodinville High School. Finalists will be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee of the Woodinville Rotary Club and will be notified of the time and place of interviews. Use standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application form available on the Foundation website. Winners will be notified by May 1. Applications are due February 5, 2010 at the career center of the applicant’s secondary school or mailed to Northshore Scholarship Foundation, P.O. Box 173, Bothell, WA 98041.

Woodinville Rotary Scholarship for Enrollee at Cascadia Community College
The scholarship is offered by the Woodinville Rotary Club and is available to a current Cascadia Community College student or a graduating high school senior who intends to enroll at Cascadia Community College (CCC). The $2,000 scholarship may be renewed for an additional year if recipient maintains a 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA. Students must (1) be or plan to be enrolled in 10 or more credits at CCC, (2) have a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA in high school or college, and (3) maintain a residence in or have attended high school in the Northshore School District (Woodinville, Bothell, or Inglemoor High Schools or the Secondary Academy for Success). Preference is given to students who are pursuing a 2-year degree or plan to transfer to a 4-year college or university, have volunteered or been involved in other ways in the community, and/or demonstrate financial need. Applications are due April 26, 2010 at Cascadia Community College Foundation (2nd Floor, Administration Offices, 281E). Applications are available on the foundation site at www.cascadia.edu.
