Scholarships
Offered by Woodinville Rotary
for academic year 2009-2010

Woodinville
Rotary Make a Difference Scholarships (WHS ONLY).
The scholarship amount will be
$6,000. Several scholarships are available.
The scholarship is sponsored by Woodinville Rotary Club.
Criteria will include academic achievement, service to others, and
evidence of acceptance to a qualifying college. Selection will be based on
the applicant’s demonstrating that he or she would not be able to attend
college without a scholarship that covers a substantial percentage of
tuition, books and fees. The
recipient will attend a two- or four-year institution of higher learning
located within the state of Washington. Use standard Northshore
Scholarship Foundation application form.
No letters of recommendation are to be attached.
Finalist interviews will be conducted.
Finalists will be notified of the time and place of interviews.
Winners will be notified by May 7.
Applications are due February 27, 2009 at the Woodinville High

Rotary Leadership/Service Scholarship (WHS ONLY)
The
scholarship amount is $2,000. The scholarship is sponsored by Woodinville Rotary
Club. Criteria will recognize
the graduates contribution to school/community service and leadership.
Financial need will be a consideration.
Use standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application form.
No letters of recommendation are to be attached.
The winner will be selected by the scholarship committee at
Woodinville High School. The winner will be notified by May 7. Applications are due February 27, 2009 at the Woodinville
High School Counseling Office. Woodinville Rotary Academic Scholarship (WHS ONLY). The scholarship amount will be $2,000. The scholarship is sponsored by Woodinville Rotary Club. Criteria will include academic achievement, service to others, and plans to attend a four-year college. Financial need will be considered. Use standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application form. No letters of recommendation are to be attached. Finalist interviews will be conducted. Teacher Education Scholarship.
The scholarship is sponsored and
funded by the Woodinville Rotary Club.
The amount of the scholarship is $2,000 and is open to
graduates of all Northshore School District high schools.
Applicants must demonstrate
interest in pursuing a career in education.
Financial need and service to the school will be considered
as well as academic potential.
Use the standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation
application form.
No
letters of recommendation are to be attached.
Finalists will be interviewed by the Woodinville Rotary
Club Scholarship Committee and should be prepared to discuss their
interest in pursuing a career as a teacher, preferably in the fields of
math or science.
The winner will be notified by
May 7.

Students entering or attending UW Bothell or Cascadia Community College
Woodinville
Rotarians are actively involved in the selection process of these
scholarships awarded at Cascadia Community College and University of
Washington Bothell with funds from the club. Jerry
Wilmot Business Management Scholarship
Available
to a student accepted and/or enrolled in the UW Bothell Masters
of Business program with concentration in Human Resources and
Management. Value $2,000 with funds provided by the Wilmot Scholarship
Endowment in the Northshore Scholarship Foundation. Woodinville Rotary Club Nursing Scholarships Available to registered nurse enrolled in the UW Bothell Bachelor of Science Nursing program. Value $2,000. Funds provided by the Woodinville Rotary Club. Woodinville Rotary Club Teacher Certification Scholarship Available to student seeking Master of Education degree and/or teaching certification at UW Bothell. Value $2,000. Funds provided by the Woodinville Rotary Club. Woodinville Rotary Club IAS Scholarship Available to student seeking a UW Bothell degree in Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences concentrating in the areas of either global studies; Society, Ethics and Human Behavior; or Science, Technology and the Environment. Value of $2,000. Funds provided by the Woodinville Rotary Club.
Woodinville Rotary Club Computing and Software Scholarship Available to student working toward a UW Bothell degree in the Computing and Software Systems program. Value of $2,000. Funds provided by the Woodinville Rotary Club.
Marv Workman Business Scholarship Available to a student accepted and/or enrolled in the business program as a freshman graduating from preferably Woodinville High School, but with all Northshore School District graduating seniors eligible. The scholarship is renewable for three additional academic years. Value $2,000 with funds provided by the Rotary-sponsored Workman Business Endowment program in the Northshore Scholarship Foundation. Rotary Scholarship for Cascadia Community College student
The scholarship is offered by the Woodinville Rotary Club and is available to a graduating high school senior who intends to enroll at Cascadia Community College. The $2,000 scholarship may be renewed for an additional year and is designed for a student who (1) plans to be enrolled in 10 or more credits at CCC, (2) maintains a residence or has attended high school in the Northshore School District (Woodinville, Bothell, or Inglemoor High Schools or the Secondary Academy for Success), and (3) has a 2.5 or better cumulative GPA in high school or college. Preference is given to students who demonstrate financial need, are pursuing a 2-year degree, plan to transfer to a 4-year college or university, and/or have volunteered or been involved in other ways in the community. Applications are due March 10, 2009 at Cascadia Community College’s Student Financial Services. Woodinville Rotary provides oversight and/or participates in the selection process for:
Karen
Ann Olson Forys, PhD Scholarship,
Graduate - The
scholarship amount will be $2,000. The scholarship will be awarded
each academic year to one graduating senior from among Bothell, Inglemoor,
Woodinville or the Secondary Academy for Success high school. The
candidate must be accepted into an accredited college or university.
The candidate must be pursuing a degree in either education or the
performing arts. The candidate must demonstrate that he/she is a
good citizen, has obtained a high school grade point average of
at least 3.0 and provided service to school and/ or community.
Financial need will be a primary consideration with a demonstrated
willingness on the part of the candidate to earn a portion of the
remaining school expenses that will be incurred obtaining their degree.
Applicants should use the standard scholarship application form posted on
the Foundation website. Finalists will be interviewed by the scholarship
committee of the Woodinville Rotary Club and will be notified of the time
and place of interviews. The winner will be notified by May 7. Applications
are due February 27, 2009 at a Northshore School District High School
Counseling Office. Malinowski-Marston
Communications Scholarship.
The scholarship amount will be
$1,500.
Candidates
will have an interest in pursuing a career in print communications
(excludes broadcasting, advertising, and public relations careers).
Financial need, academic
potential and seriousness of purpose are considerations.
Use the standard Northshore
Scholarship Foundation application.
No letters of recommendation are to be attached.
Candidates will be interviewed by
the Communications Scholarship Committee of Woodinville Rotary Club and
should be prepared to take work samples to the interview.
Applicants will be notified of
time and place of interview.
The
winner will be notified by May 7.
Applications are due February 27, 2009 at a Northshore
School District High School Counseling Office or the Foundation.
Shawn Gardner Memorial Scholarship (WHS and BHS Only) The scholarship amount will be $1,500. Candidates will be current high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in counseling or some related “helping profession.” On the scholarship application, students should include information about why they have decided to pursue a career in their chosen profession. Financial need will be a consideration. Finalists may be interviewed. Use the standard Northshore School District scholarship application. No letters of recommendation are to be attached. Applications are due Feb. 27, 2009 at the high school counseling office. The winner will be notified by May 7. Peg Phillips Memorial Theater Arts Scholarship (WHS ONLY) The scholarship amount is $1,500. It will be awarded to a student who has been active in the drama program at Woodinville High School and who has volunteered or interned with the Woodinville Repertory Theater. The scholarship must be used at a two- or four-year accredited theater arts college, conservatory or university. An application entitled “The Peg Phillips Memorial Theatre Arts Scholarship Application” is available in the Career Center at Woodinville High School. Applications are due February 27, 2009 at the Counseling Center at Woodinville High School. The winner will be notified by May 7. Doug Pride Memorial Scholarship (WHS Only) - The scholarship amount will be $2,000. As many as four scholarships are available – one new and three as renewals. The scholarship may be renewable for up to an additional three years. Conditions for renewal will include maintenance of a 3.0 GPA in college and declaration of a major within a time frame that will permit university graduation within four or five years of study. Candidates will attend Washington State University, Seattle University, or Eastern, Central or Western Washington University. Candidates will be interested in pursuing majors in architecture, business administration, engineering, veterinary medicine, science or teaching. The GPA must be at least 3.0 and candidates must be U.S. citizens. Use the standard Northshore Scholarship Foundation application form. No letters of recommendation are to be attached. Finalists will be interviewed by the scholarship committee of the Woodinville Rotary Club. Applications are due Feb. 27, 2009 at the Counseling office at Woodinville High School. Winners will be notified by May 7. Applications for renewal are due March 31, 2009, submitted to the Foundation. It is the responsibility of the recipient to apply for renewal. |
