Dominic Sickich In recognizing the Gardner family in his selection as the 2009 recipient, Dominic wrote: "I am honored to accept this amazing, touching scholarship. I promise I will make you proud you chose me to honor your son. My intentions as a human on this earth is to be the best I can be. As a leader, I will strive to help youth and teens through communication and motivation. By hard work and dedication, my plan is to earn the trust of these individuals; I will help coach them through peer pressure and inspire them to believe in themselves. "I will make a difference in many lives by reaching out and helping others in their time of need. I will make myself available and always be a good listener. "I plan to do whatever it takes to make our next generation stronger and speak to youth about depression. I will contribute my time and energy on making that difference. I make this my lifetime goal; this is my promise to you and to Shawn." 2008 Recipient
