The memorial...

Shawn Gardner graduated from BHS in 2002 and died tragically, in August following graduation. He worked very hard and his future was bright, he was to  attend Gonzaga University in the fall, with a scholarship in computer engineering. Smart , talented, kind  and so thoughtful of others, Shawn would want to help others to make this world a better place. So in honor of Shawn and through the generosity of family, friends and the Woodinville Rotary Club, we offer this scholarship. For those students who truly want to make a difference in this world and pass there gifts along to others. Considerations are based on based on heart, soul , need and desire.

I promise I will make you proud you chose me to honor your son. My intentions as a human on this earth is to be the best I can be. As a leader, I will strive to help youth and teens through communication and motivation. By hard work and dedication, my plan is to earn the trust of these individuals; I will help coach them through peer pressure and inspire them to believe in themselves.

"I will make a difference in many lives by reaching out and helping others in their time of need. I will make myself available and always be a good listener.

"I plan to do whatever it takes to make our next generation stronger and speak to youth about depression. I will contribute my time and energy on making that difference. I make this my lifetime goal; this is my promise to you and to Shawn."
